01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

The large rice bowls seem even more substantial than they look. One diner who ordered the large salmon tekka-don at Taka Sushi for lunch said the portion was so generous that a regular size would have been enough. Another visitor was surprised by the amount of vinegared rice, but enjoyed the toppings and miso soup as well.

Lunch options include salmon tekka-don, anago tekka-don, premium nigiri sushi and premium chirashi sushi. The bowls come in regular and large sizes, while the nigiri is available for one or 1.5 people. The listed prices are 1,250 yen for salmon tekka-don and 1,500 yen for anago tekka-don. Choose a filling bowl, or opt for nigiri or chirashi, depending on what you feel like eating. Lunch is served on Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:30 to 13:30. One diner reported booking ahead for lunch, which may be useful if you are planning your visit.

In the evening, there is the option to begin with small plates rather than going straight to nigiri. A diner who ordered the chef’s selection at the counter recalled enjoying ankimo (monkfish liver), sashimi, and rice topped with salmon roe and sea urchin. Another visitor described having small plates and grilled dishes before moving on to sushi. Uni and kohada (gizzard shad) were among the items one diner particularly enjoyed, suggesting a meal that moves from seafood bites to nigiri.

The menu’s starter dishes include ankimo with ponzu, raw oysters, chopped octopus sashimi and squid with mentaiko. You could choose a few small plates and pair them with sake before moving on to nigiri. Listed sake includes Masumi Junmai Ginjo and Yuki no Bosha Yamahai Junmai, with some varieties priced at 500 yen per go, up to 700 yen. Seasonal hot-pot courses are also listed: buri shabu-shabu for 6,000 yen, monkfish hot pot for 8,000 yen and tiger puffer hot pot for 10,000 yen, each per person. From a lunchtime rice bowl to an evening of small plates and sushi, or a seasonal hot pot, there are options for different appetites and occasions.
